So Far, So Good

We are right now in Falmouth, England. The weather today hasn't been so great. It is really windy and rainy. A big gale, so we can't go anywhere today. (obviously) Mom, Dad and Bryan are doing well. It is really fun in Falmouth, though we haven't been here long. I have met two friends and Bryan has met one, here in Falmouth. All three of them are Norwegian. They are going to cross the Atlantic Ocean together. The friends that I met were 11 (Eida) and 9(Camilla). I'm not sure how old Bryan's friend Colin is.

I went crabbing with Eida and Camilla, while Bryan played gameboy with Colin. Colin has a new gameboy called a DS. It has two screens. Colin played on Bryan's red gameboy, while Bryan played on Colin's DS gameboy. When we went crabbing, we caught two hermit crabs, a baby crab and three prawns, though one escaped.

I finished a book called The Railway Children. It was probably published a hundred years ago. Dad said that he might have read it when he was a kid. He read it again a couple of days ago. We found the book in the Plymouth marina, where we could take a book and leave another book. It was in the laundry room. I'm surprised that the books didn't melt in there!

In England, we have been to Dover, Eastbourne, Brighton, Portsmouth, (that was in the Solent with the Isle of Wight), then Weymouth, then we crossed Lyme Bay into Dartmouth and Dittisham. Then we went to Plymouth, Fowey and now we are in Falmouth. The best places in the whole of England that I have been to was probably Dittisham, and Fowey. I liked Dittisham because you could go onto a hill and look around and see what I call Patchworks of land, which is all the farmers land with hedges around it and sheep in the middle. It looked like a patchwork quilt. It was very pretty. The only problem was that we forgot to bring sandwiches and we could have had a picnic there and stayed longer.

We also saw giant fat (I mean really FAT!) pigs there rolling in the mud behind a fence. They were bigger than me! Dad said that Grandpa could make a lot of breakfast bacon with those pigs. Dittisham was very very hilly. We saw lots of thatched roofs and pretty gardens. I would love to live there.

Fowey , pronounced FOY. It was a very small town, but very pretty. All the houses were painted different colours like pink, blue, green and yellow. I liked the pink houses the best. To get one meal you would have to go to three different shops. Which I like. There was the butchers, the bakery, the mini market, the candy shoppe, and the fruit and veggie store. The good thing is that there were at least three book stores. I guess that Fowey people really like to read! Most of the houses had windows so you could look upon the water. It was a very quaint and pretty little town. In Fowey we went to their Carnival week and ate a giant pasty, watched a local parade, listened to the beer band, and watched fireworks. We met up with some Cornish friends in Fowey. We went jet skiing, waterskiing, in a motor boat and in their sailboat with them and a bunch of their friends.

We are hoping to cross the English Channel and go to France. I better study up on my French! We might rent a car to go to Paris. We don't know when we will go. I can't wait till we get to Paris, but it is going to be a long crossing of the Channel.

It is very fun thinking of where we are going to go and how far we have gone. I can't believe that in Dover that I saw the Queen. I have asked a couple of English friends if they have seen the Queen. They said they haven't seen the Queen and they live in England! If there is such a thing as beginner's luck than there has to be such a thing as tourist's luck!
